Phase change material (PCM)

PCM – At around 50 degrees Celsius, Phase Change Material melts and starts to flow. Once the material liquefies, it seeps into pores and fills even the smallest of cavities. Air pockets are effectively eliminated and very few gaps are permitted, promoting low thermal resistance. Because the material melts and “sinks together”, assembly needs either a spring-loaded joint or that tightening is done once the melting process has been carried out in order to ensure an adequate pressure. Phase change material is not a solution for all applications but, where it does work, it is an effective solution. Get in touch and we’ll be delighted to tell you more.
